Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Services
A psychiatric nurse practitioner, mental health nurse practitioner, or as we call it a psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber (APNP) offers primary care services to the psychiatric mental health population. Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners assess, diagnose and treat individuals and families with psychiatric disorders using their full scope of therapeutic skills, including the prescription of medication and administration of psychotherapy.
Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Requirements
A psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner has earned a master’s or doctoral degree in psychiatric mental health nursing. APNPs are required to complete 75 continuing education hours and one category of professional service preceptorship category, evidence- based practice presentation, quality assurance services or one category of publication or research every 5 years.
