Our History

1965

Where we began!

In the early days of mental health care, Pauquette emerged as a beacon of hope.

Starting as a single clinic in Portage, WI, in 1965, it served the communities of Columbia, Marquette, and Adams Counties.

At a time when insurance did not recognize mental health as a billable service, Pauquette Center provided essential, affordable care and paved the way for greater understanding and acceptance of mental health conditions.

1990

Advancements

In the latter part of the 20th century, a crucial shift occurred in the healthcare landscape.

Health insurance began recognizing mental health care as a billable service, allowing Pauquette Center to expand its reach and impact.

Moreover, Pauquette was at the forefront of integrating mental health and addiction counseling, a practice that continues to benefit countless individuals in our communities.

2015

50th Anniversary

In the years leading up to our 50th anniversary in 2015, Pauquette Center had experienced substantial growth.

We had expanded our reach to six locations in Baraboo, Columbus, Prairie du Sac, Reedsburg, and Richland Center.

By this time, we had over 25 providers and had added psychiatry services to our comprehensive range of mental health care.

2021

Expansion

In recent years, Pauquette has remained committed to meeting the evolving needs of our communities.

In 2019, we expanded our services to Madison, followed by Whitewater in 2021.

We also forged partnerships with UW-Whitewater and UW-Madison to provide training opportunities for aspiring mental health professionals.

2025

Where we are now!

In recent years, Pauquette Center has undergone substantial growth, expanding our services tenfold.

We provide professional trainings throughout the year to support the ongoing education of mental health professionals.

Additionally, we’ve launched a comprehensive DBT program and collaborate with various counties on CCS initiatives.
