To meet the licensure ethics requirement this six hour training will focus on two areas relevant to mental health.
The morning will be a review of the issues of patient confidentiality and consent to treatment, including the differences between the regulations applicable to mental health treatment and those applicable to substance use disorders (SUD), how the regulations apply to children, and issues of law enforcement and legal proceedings.
The afternoon will focus on the population of rural communities. The discussion will be centered on the unique challenges, in particular the ethical dilemmas, this population faces when receiving mental health care. Participants will learn strategies to overcome these challenges.
