PAUQUETTE CENTER ADVANCED PRACTICE NURSE PRESCRIBERS (APNPs)

APNPs’ Services and Requirements

Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse Prescribers (APNPs) offer primary care services to the psychiatric mental health population. Psychiatric Nurse Prescribers assess, diagnose and treat individuals and families with psychiatric disorders using their full scope of therapeutic skills, including the prescription of medication and administration of psychotherapy.

Psychiatric APNPs earn a master’s or doctoral degree in psychiatric mental health nursing. APNPs are required to complete 75 continuing education hours and one category of professional service preceptorship category, evidence- based practice presentation, quality assurance services or one category of publication or research every 5 years.

Rebecca Trewyn graduated from U.W. Madison in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. In 2004 Rebecca graduated with her Masters in Nursing, Adult Medicine from Marion University in Fond du Lac, WI. Rebecca has practiced primary care/general medicine for 17 years. During this time period, Rebecca discovered that her true passion was in the specialty of psychiatry, and embarked on pursuing a post masters in psychiatry from Rush University in Chicago. Rebecca completed this degree in 2011. Rebecca currently holds board certification in both adult medicine and psychiatry.

Rebecca believes in a holistic approach to wellness, citing that wellness includes, “a blend of both physical and mental health.” Rebecca recognizes that wellness is a delicate balance that requires a multi-faceted approach; being mindful of our habits, actions and choices. That being said, Rebecca is realistic and non-judgmental in her approach, recognizing that life, “isn’t always easy.” Making healthy choices especially for those who struggle with mental health issues, such as addiction, depression, anxiety, PTSD, Bipolar and schizophrenia can be especially challenging. Rebecca believes this is where she can help assist in this balance, by incorporating pharmacology for those struggling with mental illness. Rebecca looks forward to meeting you, and helping assist you in wellness and happiness in the thing called “life”.

Amanda graduated from Milwaukee School of Engineering in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. In 2018, Amanda graduated with her Masters in Nursing, from Alverno College as a Nurse Practitioner specializing in Psychiatric Mental Health.

Amanda worked for almost 6 years at Columbus Community Hospital as a Registered nurse on the Medical Surgical Unit, Intensive Care (ICU), and on the Orthopedic – elective Hip and Knee Replacement unit. Amanda began her journey for her Master’s degree in 2014 in the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Alverno but realized that her true calling was in Psychiatry. Amanda holds board certification in Psychiatric Mental Health and is certified to treat patients of all ages.

Amanda believes patients should be treated from an individual holistic approach, combining both mental and physical health. Amanda strives to be non-judgmental with her approach in treating patients who struggle with mental health issues such as ADHD/ADD, addiction, alcohol abuse, anxiety, autism, behavioral issues, bipolar disorder, depression, OCD, sleep or insomnia issues, substance abuse, suicidal ideation, trauma and PTSD and other mental health issues. Amanda would like to help by providing individualized pharmacological therapy. Amanda looks forward to meeting you and assisting you through your mental health wellness journey.
