Rebecca Trewyn graduated from U.W. Madison in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. In 2004 Rebecca graduated with her Masters in Nursing, Adult Medicine from Marion University in Fond du Lac, WI. Rebecca has practiced primary care/general medicine for 17 years. During this time period, Rebecca discovered that her true passion was in the specialty of psychiatry, and embarked on pursuing a post masters in psychiatry from Rush University in Chicago. Rebecca completed this degree in 2011. Rebecca currently holds board certification in both adult medicine and psychiatry.

Rebecca believes in a holistic approach to wellness, citing that wellness includes, “a blend of both physical and mental health.” Rebecca recognizes that wellness is a delicate balance that requires a multi-faceted approach; being mindful of our habits, actions and choices. That being said, Rebecca is realistic and non-judgmental in her approach, recognizing that life, “isn’t always easy.” Making healthy choices especially for those who struggle with mental health issues, such as addiction, depression, anxiety, PTSD, Bipolar and schizophrenia can be especially challenging. Rebecca believes this is where she can help assist in this balance, by incorporating pharmacology for those struggling with mental illness. Rebecca looks forward to meeting you, and helping assist you in wellness and happiness in the thing called “life”.

Specialty Services

Your life is a journey. Do Not allow your past to predict your future. I understand you may be tired, scared, and ashamed; but you have the ability to pick yourself up and seize this moment…right here…right now. You are not alone; I will walk beside you on this new path to recovery and healing. My therapeutic approach is one that is person centered, strength based, and solution focused. My goal as your therapist is to have you leave treatment knowing that you are a survivor, not a victim and that you are in this game of life to win.

I have specialized training in working with individuals with Trauma, PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), and AODA (Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse) backgrounds. Being licensed as a school counselor, substance abuse counselor and profession counselor I have had the opportunity to work with children and adults alike in various settings such as in public and private schools, and most recently at Rogers Memorial Hospital in their residential and partial hospitalization programs.

When treating patients I prefer to take a balanced and structured approach of active listening/motivational interviewing, solution focused treatment, and interventions that focus on how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected through utilizing approaches such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and Schema Therapy.

I understand that each and every patient is unique in what they find helpful and meaningful to their treatment, so I believe in being flexible and adapting my therapeutic approach to each patients individual needs.
